Kaweah rose to 21 percent of its capacity, and fishing has been decent. Spotted bass and largemouth took finesse baits in 5 to 25 feet of water with bigger females staging for the spawn. Chunky bass were reported by anglers fishing jigs in 10 to 20 feet of water near flats with access to deeper water and rocky structure. Otherwise, bass took Senko style baits, shaky heads, and drop shot in Aaron’s Magic, Smokin’ Shad, and motor oil with red flake. Crappie took small live minnows, swimbaits, and minijigs near Horse Creek, and catfish ate Triple S dip bait, garlic scented nightcrawlers, and cut anchovies. Trout anglers used garlic scented dough baits, and various trout lures to land rainbows near the marina. Kaweah is scheduled for another trout plant the week of March 24.
