Our Story
Chad Woods, our founder, grew up in Southern California, attending Crespi High School in Encino before earning a business degree in Finance from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas, in 1990. After a successful career in the music industry as a computer consultant during the 1990s, Chad followed his passion for fishing and launched Sportfishing Report in 2000.

Recognizing the unique appeal of long-range fishing, Chad created Long Range Sportfishing in 2015 as a dedicated platform for anglers embarking on these extraordinary adventures.
