Fish Report for 3-15-2024
A lot of the action remained in the 10 to 20 foot zone
3-15-2024
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Castaic Lake remained near 78 percent of its storage capacity, and better numbers of large and smallmouth were reported. A lot of the action remained in the 10 to 20 foot zone, but bass have been taking Seno style baits in shallow water as well. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and Carolina rigs were the most reliable way to entice bites, but bass also took small swimbaits, crankbaits, and jigs. The striped bass bite remained on the slow side, but anglers boated some fish with cut baits, live worms, and trolled A-rigs. Trout anglers continue to score bites with trout worms, dough baits, and trolled lures. The trout have spread throughout the lake, and they are often located in the backs of coves. Catfish anglers soaked dip bait, cut mackerel, and sardines to land whisker-fish.
