The offshore fishing for billfish continues to provide an excellent opportunity for the anglers that have a billfish on their "bucket list" and this past week allowed for a 73% success rate. The Aries Fleet offshore cruisers fishing a total of 11 days reflected 3 stripers and 5 sailfish, (2 released) and the inshore super pangas reporting in for 3 days fished reflected 39 red snappers, 11 Sierra and 6 permit. Overall, it was a very good weather and fishing week for the fleet and the elements continue to look excellent through Christmas and into the New Year.

Mazatlan Climate: It was partly cloudy skies this past week with intermittent sunshine periods and temps that varied from a cool 52 nights to 81 daytime highs. Light jackets recommended for mornings and evenings. Humidity level at 53%.


Sea Conditions: 79-80 degrees throughout the area, from inshore to offshore. Surface conditions calm to about 11 mph with the flow from the northwest.

Best Fishing Area: Continues to be to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, starting at about 17 miles and working offshore from there.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged trolling baits continue to be the ammunition for the billfish.

Bait Supply: Excellent bait supply with plenty of fresh baits for rigging and provided gratis with the charter. Live bait continues to be available at $1.00 per bait
