Another outstanding fishing week from Puerto Morelos, fishing aboard the Marina El Cid Sportfishing Fleet. According to our on-the-spot reporter, Ms. Adriana Guzman, the boats fished a total of 43 days and reflected a 9.1 fish per boat average that included a mixed 15 fish species. Leading the week's catches were 7 sailfish, along with 5 dorado, 14 needlefish, 46 bonito, 27 giant barracuda, 49 blackfin tuna, 24 Spanish mackerel, 4 king mackerel, 1 amberjack 1 shark, 79 snappers, (the fish of the week) 29 banana fish, 62 chac-chi, 20 grouper and 24 triggerfish. Overall, it was a banner fishing week, particularly with the off season catch of sailfish in the mix.
PM Climate: Temperatures varied from 62 nights to 78 daytime highs and a humidity level at 68%. It was a partly cloudy week with a mixture of sunshine and overall, pleasant days.
Sea Conditions: Sea temps holding stable at 81-82 degrees. Surface breezes are tropical and flowing mostly from the easterly directions and ranged from calm to about 10 mph.
Best Bait: The always available ballyhoo continue to be the baits of choice for this area and was unaffected by the full moon conditions.
Bait Supply: Readily available and freshly supplied on a daily basis.
