Another excellent fishing week for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet, operating from the Marina El Cid, in Mazatlan. The offshore sportfishing cruisers reported in for 21 days fishing that included a 76% billfish catch rate that included 6 stripers, (2 released) 10 sailfish, (5 released) 8 yellowfin tuna, (to 140 lbs., taken aboard the "Aries I") and 7 dorado. The inshore super pangas had terrific fishing for a total of 10 days action that included 2 stripers, (1 released) 3 sailfish, 5 roosterfish, 4 dorado, 4 Sierra, 7 skipjack tuna, 55 snappers, & 20 triggerfish.


Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days for most of the week with a very sunny Saturday and temps that ranged from 61 nights to 84 daytime highs and a humidity level of 73%. Overall, it was very good weather.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps holding at 80-81.5, from inshore to offshore. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the westerly directions that ranged from calm to 9 mph. All is perfect for fishing and the fish are biting.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15 miles offshore to the southwest of the Marina El Cid and expanding from there to the west and to the south.

Best Lure/Bait: The billfish were biting well on the rigged baits, albeit, a few were taken on the artificials.

Bait Supply: An excellent bait supply for both, freshly caught baits for rigging that are provided with the charters and live bait, provided at the rate of $1.00 per bait.
