Fly and Field Outfitters
The Lower Deschutes is offering excellent fishing. Nymphing remains the most consistent method, and using tungsten flies will help you reach the right depth. Dry fly fishing has been spotty, but be attentive to back eddies and late afternoons for possible surface action, with caddis and PMDs likely in play. For more aggressive fish, swinging leeches, sculpins, or small streamers can be effective. A quick reminder that steelhead season is underway! With enough fish over Bonneville to extend the season through December, steelhead are reportedly being caught above Maupin. Stock up on steelhead flies at our shop for a great selection!
