Castaic Lake Fishing Report
9-23-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Castaic rose to 38 percent of capacity, and water temperatures dropped into the high seventies. In previous weeks the action was hot in the fish arm, but that side of the lake is now choked with debris from the recent fire. Most anglers have focused on the ski arm, and fishing has been good for bass and striper. Walking baits, poppers, and weightless flukes drew plenty of bites for patient anglers who wait for the boils. Bass also fell for drop shot, Ned rigs, and Carolina rigs in 5 to 20 feet of water. Shad, Aaron’s Magic, and Ox Blood have been good color choices. Striper took the same baits as bass during the boils. They also picked up cut sardines and trolled flies in the ski arm. Catfish anglers used dip bait, cut baits, and chicken liver for some decent action on the dam.
