Water is still stained from recent rains

Lake Nacimiento is at 30 percent of capacity, and the water is still stained from recent rains. Spotted bass went for drop shot, shaky heads, and darter heads in 5 to 40 feet of water. Some of the bass remained up shallow, and anglers targeted them with Senkos and crankbaits. There are also bass holding as deep as 50 feet, and spoons have been a good way to entice bites from the depths. White bass fell for spoons in deeper water as well. Catfish anglers used chicken liver, dip bait, and cut mackerel to land plenty of good-sized whisker fish, and a few crappie were reported by anglers using live minnows and minijigs.
