Fish Report for 12-3-2021
Upper Kern Stocked This Week
12-3-2021
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
In the Upper Kern, the DFWL stocked all three sections for the first time this season and more plants are scheduled over the next couple weeks. In the 20-mile stretch anglers can find trout at the easy access points with salmon eggs, trout worms and spinners. Wild trout continue to make a showing for fly anglers in the Upper Section with nymphs. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in the following sections: Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge; Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. The Lower Kern Largemouth and smallmouth bass bite is fair with the cooler water temps. Plastics fished in the slower water are getting some bites. Carolina rigged 4” curly tail worms bounced along the bottom in slower current and eddies are getting a few takers too. At the time of reporting the Upper Kern River was flowing at 125 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 156 CFS.
