Fish Report for 11-26-2021
Trout and striper fishing has been excellent
11-26-2021
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake held near 90 percent of capacity, and trout and striper fishing has been excellent. Numerous trout plants over the last four weeks sparked a feeding frenzy for the striped bass. Most of the action has been near the marina, and the bigger fish have been biting as soon as the lake opens. Large surface baits and trout imitation swimbaits worked the best. Striper also went for cut sardines, anchovies, and bloodworms fished near Yellowbar and Serrano. Trout anglers scored easy limits using dough bait, minijigs, mousetails, and spinners. Kastmasters were another favorite for the freshly planted trout. Bass anglers reported slower conditions, but plenty of fish are being caught in the afternoons. Senkos, drop shot, and Texas rigged worms are all working for bites along bluff walls and points. On windy days jerkbaits and crankbaits have been taking better quality bass in the mudlines. Pyramid has a very healthy catfish population, and anglers consistently catch good numbers of quality whisker fish. Most anglers report using Carolina rigs with cut baits, chicken liver, or dip bait just about anywhere in the lake.
