Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo Fish Report- The Independent Sportfishing Fleet

According to Captain Temo Verboonen, "we can count the anglers on the dock with one hand!" While the fishing remains very good right now, especially for sailfish and dorado, there are very few anglers to take fishing. The sailfish are in the 80-90 lb. average sizes and the dorado are in the 50 lb. class. The inshore fishing is still producing big roosterfish, albeit, it was more difficult to locate the fish this past week and live bait was the hot ticket item for them. There has also been a fair bite on Sierra and jack cravelle.

IZ Climate: Sunny & warm days, temps from 73 nights to 93 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Excellent, clean & blue water within a couple of miles of the Bay.

Best Fishing Area: Excellent sailfishing just 4 miles from the entrance to the Bay.

Best Bait/Lure: Sailfish were eager to bite the rigged trolling baits as were some bigger dorado, too. Roosterfish best on the live bait.

Bait supply: Good availability.
