Puerto Morelos Fish Report- The Marina El Cid, Cancun to Cozumel Area
8-6-2009
Larry Edwards
The catching was pretty slow this past week from Puerto Morelos,
according to the general manager, Armando Gutierrez, but he says it
doesn\'t really reflect the potential had the charters been for longer
fishing days. All of the trips this week were short, 4-hour charters
and while all boats did land a fish or two, it just didn\'t allow
sufficient time for the anglers to be overly successful with their
charters. Reporting in for 9 days fished reflected 8 Atlantic
barracuda, 6 king mackerel, 2 Spanish mackerel, 3 red snapper, 1
triggerfish and 2 tuna.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 76 nights to 92
daytime highs and a little humid.
Sea Conditions: Water temps have risen to 85-86 throughout the
area. Tropical surface breezes from the ESE at about 10 knots are
making for some great conditions.
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged Ballyhoo continue to be best.
