Fly and Field Outfitters
Fishing at the Fall River has been good recently. The weather this week looks like it’ll start warmer and end wet and cooler. You can expect the fish to be pretty active during the last few days of summer weather, they need to fatten up before it gets really cold. During the warmer part of the week, look for pale morning duns, caddis, and maybe a few terrestrials flying around. Once it gets cold you can expect PMDs to stick around, they’ll likely be joined by blue wing olives. Nymphing is the most productive way of fishing the fall river. Nothing special has been working well recently, just the same small mayfly and midge patterns. Remember that the Fall River is nutrient poor which makes the majority of aquatic insects smaller than size 18. Fishing with fairly large streamers has been productive, especially around the freshly stocked fish. It’s been a consistent season for the Fall River. Thanks for reading the summer fishing reports and remember to keep checking in during fall and winter.
