Fall River Has Been Good Recently

Fly and Field Outfitters

Fall River has been good recently. The river was recently stocked. With the cool rainy days this week, we can expect some decent dry fly action. Pale morning duns and blue wing olives are the major mayfly hatches. Caddis action is sporadic, the dries can work as searching patterns. Terrestrials will likely be unproductive in a week or so but they still have potential for the time being. The usual nymphs have been productive. Euro nymphing techniques are best. Any mayfly nymph around size 18 or smaller is a good bet. The smaller you can go with midges the better. Word is that large white streamers have been working well out there. This week offers some nice cool weather fishing, which often means fewer anglers. Fall seems to be getting off to an early start and there are chances of a big winter, hopefully, this holds true and we get relief from the drought.
