The Fall River is Fishing Super Well

The Fall River is fishing super well. We’ve seen great days out there, with many more just around the corner. Cooler weather this week means more blue wing olives and maybe some decent pale morning dun hatches. Expect less caddis for the time being, but the pupa will still be in the drift. Green drakes hatch in small numbers this time of year. Be prepared with some green drake duns and emergers, Fall River fish on big bugs is an absolute blast. Your typical nymph patterns are always a good bet, midges and small mayfly nymphs. Since it’s spring and there are more bugs in the drift, try out larger flies like drake nymphs, stoneflies and pupa. You never know what the fish want to bite, especially on the Fall. Spread out and search for groups of fish that hang out in atypical places, they likely haven’t seen as many flies as the fish in popular spots. Layer up when you head out this week, it’ll be cool and wet out there but the fish will likely be much easier to fool due to the cloud cover.
