Fishing at Crane has been great

5-14-2021
Fly and Field Outfitters

Fishing at Crane has been great. The fish aren’t channeled up, they’re pretty spread out. Make sure to move around if you’re not finding them. Indicator rigs are the way to go. Midges are slightly less prominent but the fish will still eat them subsurface. We’ve been seeing better action with chironomids and balanced leeches. Most of the fish are 8 - 10 feet down, make sure you’ve got your indicator set properly. Word has it that stripping leeches has been a bit more successful lately. It’s a bit early, but damsels can be good to strip as well. Access is much better and it’s looking like the action on Crane is only going to keep heating up.

Recommended Dries: Chubby Chernobyl Patriot and Purple #12-14, Para- Cricket #16-12

Recommended Nymphs: Bruised Ballanced Leech #14, Two Bit Hooker #16-18, Zebra Midge #18-20, Super Sinker #16-18, bead wing midge #18-20, Red Pheasant Tail #14-18, Rainbow Warrior #18-20, Red Ice Cream Cone #12-16, Callabaetis Nymph #16-18
