Larry Edwards

Another terrific fishing week from the Marina El Cid Sportfishing Fleet in Puerto Morelos, providing a 13 specie mixed-bag catch for the anglers that again reflected the dorado, (mahi-mahi) as the "Fish of the Week" for the fleet. The overall catch report for a combined total of 63 days fished reflected 7 white marlin, 4 sailfish, 73 dorado, 17 bonito, 3 wahoo, 17 giant barracuda, 1 amberjack, 4 blackfin tuna, 11 snappers, 39 chac-chi, 61 triggerfish, 1 Spanish mackerel and 11 grouper. According to our local reporter for the fleet, Ms. Jessica Ortega, the overall fishing has been excellent for the past few weeks and there is no sign of it letting up, even with the current full moon conditions.

PM Climate: It's been a sun & cloud mixed week with a few thunder showers for the weekend all with warm temps that varied from 74 nights to 86 daytime highs and a 70% humidity level.

Sea Conditions: Tropical surface breezes flowing in mostly from the northeasterly directions that ranged from very light to 12 mph. Very fishable conditions throughout the area with sea temps stable at 85 degrees all over the area.

Best Bait: The ongoing everyday supply of the ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice and is furnished to all of the sportfishers for eery charter.

Bait Supply: The availability of the ballyhoo for this area is incredible and has never had a shortage since the first day of fishing from the Marina El Cid, Puerto Morelos.
