As we move across the full moon phase and what has been incredibly good fishing, all eyes are on the development of Hurricane Blanca, which is focusing in on Cabo San Lucas for a Monday/Tuesday entry. Right now, Hurricane Blanca is currently a category 4 (131 to 155 mph) and predicted to increase to a 5 (156 mph-plus) by Thursday morning before decreasing over the next few days and is posed to strike at or near Cabo as a downgraded tropical storm around mid-day on Monday and push right on through the area and reducing to a tropical depression and out of the area by late Monday or early Tuesday. There's still a lot of "ifs" connected to Blanca as it proceeds up the line and currently off shore in the area outside of Acapulco/Zihuatanejo, slowly moving up the line.

The fishing and catching remains very good and it seemed as if the full moon had very little effect on the catching numbers. According to our local, on-the-spot reporters, Carlos Pena-Mireles for the Gaviota Fleet and Captain Roberto Maquez for the Fish Cabo Fleet, the striper bite continues to be very good and in the pas few days has moved a little closer to Cabo and the better bite is in between the 1150 Fathom Spot and the 95 Fathom Spot. High boat for the week was the "Tuna Time", reflecting 9 stripers released and 1 thresher shark released, (approximately 150 lbs.). The "Don Pancho" landed the only wahoo, a fine 54" specimen about 40 lbs. or so, along with a hammerhead shark, (released) and a striper for a 1-day charter fishing in the 1150 area. The overall fish counts or a total of 29 days fished reflected 32 stripers, (27 released) 3 mako sharks, (released) 2 hammerhead sharks, (released), 1 thresher shark, (released) 2 dorado 1 wahoo and 11 skipjack. According to Captain Roberto Marquez, there continues to be a surplus of sharks throughout the 1150 area and they, too, want to bite.

Cabo Climate: Air temps varied from 73 nights to 95 daytime highs and a 48% humidity level. Early week, through Friday, mostly sunny and clear with increasing clouds, rain and wind for the weekend. Pending Hurricane Blanca due late Sunday, early Monday.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps on the Pacific side all at 74-76. Cabo San Lucas to Gorda Banks at 77. 1150 Fathom Spot and out to the 1000 fathom curve at 79. Los Frailes at 81. Surface breezes mostly fom the westerly dire3ctions thru Friday and ranged from light o 13 mph. Changing to east southeast on Saturday & Sunday with high winds and probable port closures.

Best Fishing Area: Between the 1150 Fathom Spot and the 95 Fathom Spot, about 15 miles from Cabo Harbor.

Best Bait/Lure: The stripers were bak to biting the artificial and the rigged trolling baits with an occasional drop-back live bait.

Live Bait Supply: Excellent for caballitos at the $3.00 per bait rate.
