THE MAZATLAN FISHING REPORT FOR THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET, (MARINA EL CID, PACIFIC)

Another great fishing week for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet from the Marina El Cid, Mazatlan. According to our on-the-spot reporter, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, the billfish were again pretty active and wanted to bite for the anglers and the inshore fishing remained near limit style fishing, especially for the snapper catches. The overall offshore fish catches for a total of 17 days fished reflected 18 stripers, (11 released) 3 sailfish and 1 yellowfin tuna and the inshore super pangas reported in for 11 days fished that reflected 1 striper released, 1 sailfish, limits of snappers, 15 grouper, 89 sea bass, & 58 triggerfish. Given that the water temperatures are staying warmer than in past years, the fishing results are abnormally higher than in prior years and we expect this action to continue right on into the summer fishing season. We anticipate a huge dorado bite to commence by late May 2015, due to the increased water temperatures throughout the area and that should bode well for the black and blue marlin action this coming summer and fall.

Mazatlan Climate: Air temps varied from 57 nights to 86 daytime highs and a 73% average humidity level. Sunny & warm days during the early week and changing to partly cloudy days with a sunshine mix for the latter week. Remains very good overall weather for the entire area.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps continue o be above average for this time of year and varied from 78 inshore to 80 degrees for offshore waters. Surface breezes flowing in from the westerly directions and ranging from near calm to about 12 mph.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid and working outbound rom there.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits were working very well or the billfish in the offshore waters and a few were also being taken on the artificials.

Bait Supply: The bait supply has been excellent for the sportfishers with plenty of freshly caught baits or rigging and a good live bait supply at $1.00 per bait.
