THE MAZATLAN FISHING REPORT FOR THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET, (MARINA EL CID, PACIFIC)
Unquestionably, it was the best March fishing report we have ever provided for Mazatlan during the month of March. Our on-the-spot reporter, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, relayed a billfish bonanza week for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet from the Marina El Cid, that placed "Aries IV" as high boat for the week with a total of 11 stripers, (7 releases) 1 sailfish and 2 dorado for 6 days fished, followed by "Aries IX", reflecting 11 stripers, (8 released) and a single mako shark for 7 days fished. The overall fish counts for the offshore fishing provided an awesome March fishing week for the fleet and reflected a total of 41 stripers, (28 released) 1 sailfish, 1 mako shark and 4 dorado for 26 days fished. Not to be outdone, the inshore super pangas were stacking up the numbers with limit style fishing for their anglers, too, that included 1 sailfish, 9 jack crevalle, 1 dorado, 12 sea bass, 1 barracuda, limits of snappers, limits of triggerfish and limits of grouper, for their 12 days fished.
Mazatlan Climate: A 50-50 week with partly cloudy days to bright sunshine days and very good fishing everyday.
Sea Conditions: Sea temps ranged from 75 inshore to 76 offshore and excellent clarity from about 15-16 miles or so. Surface breezes mostly westerly to about 9 mph.
Best Fishing Area: The offshore fishing started at about 18 miles to the southwest of the Marina El Cid and got better in all outbound directions. The skippers were reporting good catches over wide areas.
Best Bait/Lure: Great catching on the rigged baits and the artificials, too. There was no lack of action through the week, either inshore or offshore.
Bait Supply: Excellent bait supply with fresh rigging baits provided with the charters and live bait at $1.00 per bait rate.
