THE MAZATLAN FISHING REPORT FOR THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET, (MARINA EL CID, PACIFIC)


It was an exciting fishing week for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet from the Marina El Cid. According to our on location reporter at the Aries Fleet Office, Ms. Kitcia Cejas, it was a real action packed fishing week for the anglers, both inshore and offshore as the billfish averages held up very well and added a few yellowfin tuna and dorado to the counts. The overall offshore catches for 26 offshore fishing days reflected 21 stripers, (9 released) 8 sailfish, (4 released) 7 dorado and 17 yellowfin tuna. The inshore action for 12 days fished reflected 2 stripers, (1 released) 1 sailfish, limits of snappers, 128 triggerfish, 2 dorado and 25 pampano.


Mazatlan Climate: A wonderful weather week for Mazatlan that ran about 50-50 for sunny days and days with passing clouds. Air temps ranged from 57 nights to 83 daytime highs and 62% humidity level.

Sea Conditions: A really good week for fishing with the surface breezes flowing mostly from the westerly directions and sea temps at 77-78 degrees from inshore to offshore.

Best Fishing Area: The offshore fishing started at about 15-16 miles offshore and from there, the boats worked outbound and to the south.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits worked best for the sailfish and about 70% of the stripers, along with a few dorado, too. Artificials also worked for the stripers and dorado and the feathers were best of the yellowfin tuna.

Bait Supply: Excellent or both, fresh baits for rigging and live baits at $1.00 per bait paid directly to the bait vendor at time of receipt.
