THE PUERTO MORELOS FISHING REPORT FOR THE MARINA EL CID SPORTFISHING FLEET, (CANCUN TO COZUMEL AREA)


It was a truly banner fishing week from the Marina El Cid Sportfishing Fleet from Puerto Morelos, that ended up with a 6.6-plus fish average per boat day fished. We have received a fabulous fishing report from our local reporter, Ms. Jessica Ortega, that reflected a couple of records were broken with this last week's report that included the numbers of fishing days and the numbers of dorado caught. Spring is in the air in Puerto Morelos and the fish are wanting to bite. The overall fish counts for 76 days fished reflected 1 offseason sailfish, 104 dorado, 5 wahoo, 10 bonito, 15 giant barracuda, 5 Spanish mackerel, 1 blackfin tuna, 1 sand shark, 157 chac-chi, 80 triggerfish, 105 snappers, 11 grouper and 8 banana fish.

PM Climate: An odd weather week that ranged from partly cloudy days to completely sunny and then rain for the weekend. Temps ranged from 68 nights to 88 daytime highs and a 73% average humidity rate.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps holding very stable at 81 degrees. Tropical surface breezes flowing mostly from the easterly directions and ranging from near calm to about 13 mph.

Best Bait: The dorado have been anxious to bite the ballyhoo baits from the outrigger positions.

Bait Supply: Remains excellent with freshly supplied ballyhoo baits available and provided for all charters as part of the fishing package.
