THE IXTAPA-ZIHUATANEJO FISHING REPORT FOR THE INDEPENDENT SPORTFISHING FLEET
Another glowing fish report from Captain Temo Verboonen, reflecting an increase in action from the last week's epic report. He started out with, "Plenty of fish in Zihuatnajeo waters and seeing more and more anglers at the dock. The fish are everywhere you go. Sailfish and dorado still beginning at just 4 miles outside the Bay and the marlin action has also increased through the past week and filtered into the same areas. The inshore fishing has really come alive with a fantastic bite for bigger jack crevalle and dorados and more and more Roosterfish, Sierras and bonitos. The past week was exceptional fishing for the anglers and provided long fishing days of fast action. This past week has been exciting and really fun fishing that has kept the anglers busy and up to the rail and all just right out the front door.
IZ Climate: Wonderful weather conditions with light tropical breezes and temps that ranged from 65 nights to 89 daytime highs and a 62% humidity level.
Sea Conditions: Excellent sea conditions that ranged from almost calm to light & variable surface breezes to 9-10 mph. Water temps are stable at 83 inshore and rising to 85 offshore and excellent clarity.
Best Fishing Area: The action begins at just 4 miles outside the Bay and continues from there in any direction you elect.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best this past week but there was also plenty of action on the artificials, especially in the offshore waters.
Bait Supply: Remains excellent. Plenty of fresh rigging baits available, provided as part of the charters and live bait at $5.00 per dozen.
