Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Fishing Report
1-15-2015
Larry Edwards
An incredibly upbeat report out of Zihuatanejo area provided by Captain Temo Verboonen. According to Temo the fish were providing a banner week's action that was just short of fish jumping in the boat and almost close enough to the Bay to cast from the beach. Well, not quite but it all started about the 4-mile mark and there was a substantial mix of billfish, both marlin and sailfish, and dorado mixed in. Nearly all of the boats were having 6-plus strikes and hookups everyday and the fishing days were longer due to the closeness to the Bay. Temo described it as a truly fun fishing week for the anglers and the crews. Even the inshore action shot upward with big schools of jack crevalle along the coastline and eager to bite the trolling lures and spinners & poppers. Whatever went out got bit in a frenzy of fast-action fishing. "We are starting to see more & more anglers at the docks everyday. All is good.
