Gary Graham
Yellowtail action turned spotty again yesterday after a couple of great days.
The best grade is near Pukey Point. Most of these yellows are in the 15-pound class with some in the 22- to 25-pound class. There are also yellows at the south end of North Island and out on the Middle Grounds.
Much of the action is happening on or near the bottom in 150- to 175-feet in the morning hours with some fish coming to the surface in afternoon hours.
Some bigger-grade bonito are around now as well. Many 4- to 6-pound fish and some 8- to 12-pound slugs are showing up every day too. http://www.fishdope.com/
