A great weather and fishing week from Mazatlan that included some top-notch sea conditions that made for an excellent overall week of action for the offshore and inshore fishing boats. The offshore action for a total of 21 days fished reflected 1 blue marlin 22 sailfish, (10 released) 2 yellowfin tuna and 11 dorado and the inshore super pangas reporting in for 5 days fished reflected 1 blue marlin, 3 sailfish, (1 released) 9 dorado, 1 barracuda and 4 cabrilla. High billfish boat for the week was the Aries III, reflecting 1 blue marlin, 4 sailfish released and 1 dorado for a one-day catch on November 16, 2014.
Mazatlan Climate: A pleasant, sunny week's weather for Mazatlan with an occasional passing cloud. Temps ranged from 57 nights to 84 daytime highs with 88% humidity.
Sea Conditions: Excellent overall conditions for fishing with temps at 83-84 degrees and good clarity from about 14-15 miles and beyond. Surface breezes flowing from the westerly directions that ranged from calm mornings to 9 mph by early afternoons.
Best Fishing Areas: Starting at about 17-18 miles southwest of the Marina El Cid and working outbound to the south and west from there.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits were top producers for the billfish & dorado. The tuna were taken on feathers.
Bait Supply: Excellent fresh rigging bait supply and plenty of live bait available. Live bait is $1.00 per bait.
