Puerto Morelos Fishing Report
11-13-2014
Larry Edwards
The fishing from Puerto Morelos this past week was about as good as it gets for early November and even provided a handful of sailfish in the mixed back catches. The overall catch report for a total of 31 days fished reflected 5 sailfish, 52 bonito, 15 giant barracuda, 15 needle fish, 14 Spanish mackerel, 11 blackfin tuna, 6 king mackerel, 4 amberjack, 26 snappers, 41 banana fish, 39 chack-chi, 13 triggerfish and 14 groupers. The "Mojito" landed three of the 5 sailfish over a 2-day span, making for some very happy deep sea anglers.
PM Climate: A good mix of sunshine in partly cloudy days was the norm for the past week. Temps ranged from 66 nights to 83 daytime highs along with 88% humidity ratios.
Sea Conditions: Very favorable sea conditions with light tropical surface breezes flowing in from the easterly directions to about 10-11 mph. Sea temps are staying stable at 80-81 degrees.
Best Bait: The always available ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice for the crew and the anglers.
Bait Supply: Excellent supply of fresh ballyhoo baits in a variety of sizes and just perfect for the current fishing in this area.
