Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

7-3-2014
Larry Edwards

The billfish bite picked up from the prior week's report and even included a late season white marlin in the mix. The overall fish bite has improved and is offering an increased variety catch for the anglers and has become especially entertaining for the family groups that frequent this area. This past week's catches for a total of 36 days fished reflected 1 white marlin, 19 sailfish, 4 dorado, 64 bonito, 6 giant barracuda, 4 blackfin tuna, 4 Spanish mackerel, 1 grumpy fish, 1 strawberry fish, 4 soap fish, 1 amberjack, 14 banana fish, 2 needle fish, 23 triggerfish, 3 porgy and 18 snappers. The fish catch averages remain close to 5 fish per boat fished day and considering that many of the trips are 4-hour charters, the catch rate is providing an excellent family fishing entertainment and on the water experience.
