Considering the time of year, the offshore fishing report for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, was very good, albeit, not many boats got out. According to Ms. Kitcia Ceja, our Fleet reporter for Mazatlan, points out that the cooler waters are normally set by this time of year, but not so far yet, as the temps remain in the 75-77 degree range for the offshore waters. Temps remained sufficient to entice an occasional sailfish in the mix. The overall catch report for a total of 8 offshore fishing days resulted in 5 stripers , (3 released)and 1 sailfish and the inshore super pangas, reporting in for 4 days fished reflected 4 corvina, 10 seabass and 58 red snapper. All-in-all, it's holding very well for both the inshore and offshore fishing from the Marina El Cid and we see no changes at this time.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy skies but toasty warm days and cool mornings and evenings with temps ranging from 52 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Offshore temps remain in the 74-77 degree temp ranges with the warmer waters out to the south of the Marina El Cid. Mostly light and variable surface breezes but one windy day during the early week that caused a port closure day.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the billfish action is taking place out to the south of the Marina El Cid, in the warmer water areas, starting at about 18 miles or so with the boats working outbound toward the south from there. Mostly calm seas with very light swell action and surface breezes.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits working well for the billfish with all of the fish taken on the freshly rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Continues to be readily available for both, live bait and freshly caught mullet for rigging baits.
