According to our reporter for Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Captain Temo Verboonen, the full moon had a substantial effect on the overall fishing this past week but has come back to the "want to bite" mode that was going on before the moon. It has been getting better each day. The sailfish had moved offshore to the 20 mile mark for a couple of days and now, back to the 12 mile mark. The water is a deep blue at about 8 miles and we expect the fish to move back inside the 12-mile mark and again, right out in front of the Zihuatanejo Bay. The captains are reporting many strikes per boat fishing day with a mix of fish that include sailfish big dorado and even a few marlin are showing up in the trolling patterns. Better yet, we have good reports for tuna showing up at the 30 mile mark and if they will just come inside a little more, we should have some tuna catches to add to the fish counts. The inshore fishing bounced back in the area around Saladita Beaches and the reports are reflecting good fishing for roosterfish, jack crevalle, Sierras and bonitos. The spinning gear has been a very good option for the anglers. A very welcome change has been the increased presence of numbers of anglers on the pier each day.

IZ Climate: Sunny & warm days with a few passing clouds and temps that ranged from 70 nights to 89 daytime highs and mostly light & variable surface breezes.

Sea Conditions: Excellent for both, inshore and offshore areas. Inshore holding at 82-83 and offshore holding stable at 84, with excellent clarity at 8 miles. Mostly calm waters from inshore to offshore.

Best Fishing Area: The billfish and dorado best right now at 12 miles, having moved back in from 20 miles.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits continue to be working very well for the sailfish and dorado, but good numbers of strikes continue with the artificials, particularly the Australian Pakula lures.

Bait Supply: Remains very good and continued right through the moon phases, providing both, fresh baits for rigging and live baits on request.
