Fishing was very good at Cachuma Lake
11-19-2012
Cachuma Lake Staff
Trout fishing picked up after the recent storm as both trollers and shore fishermen are getting fish to 6 lbs. Powerbait and inflated crawlers fished on E Point and the marina point was the ticket from the bank. Trollers that were flat lining Kastmasters or Fire Tiger Rapalas did well in Cachuma Bay and the mouth of Harveys'.
Bass fishing also improved and both smallmouth and largemouth were taking drop shot, jigs, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Fish to 3.5 lbs. were reported. Catfish were also being caught where ever there was run off entering the lake. Mackerel was the top choice for the Kitties. Carp should return to the shallows with a few warm days, and should provide steady action for people who wish to bowfish. All other species were slow.
