Andy Cates brought Red Rooster III home from a six-day trip with 19 anglers on September 30, with a good catch of yellowtail and dorado.
The winning fish, a 37-pound yellowtail, bit on a new Tady 4/0 jig in Mexican Flag colors, dropped by Robert Davis of Chino Hills. "He rocked me, and took over 15 minutes to bring up," said Robert. "It was a good fight."
Davis said he got his yellow on 40-pound Izorline, 65-pound Power Pro spectra, and Avet JX Raptor reel and a Calstar 700 H rod.
Andy Tenery of Austin, TX won second place for a 24.2-pound dorado. Ernie Walters of LA won third place for a 24-pound dorado.
