Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo Fishing Report

9-30-2010
Larry Edwards

Captain Temo Verboonen reported a better fishing week than in the past few weeks, but still enormously slow for anglers at the dock. For the few boats that did fish, the bonito catches were good and the roosterfish were biting well, too. Dorado starting to show up in better numbers. Temo reported the inshore water had cleared up considerably with the current moving the dirty water out but it really depended on the day. There were no boats fishing in the offshore waters but the overall offshore conditions from satellite images suggest the yellowfin tuna are still on location, along with the sailfish and marlin. He added, "can't remember when the lack of anglers at the dock lasted for such a long period".

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days with some PM and night rains and temps from 70 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: It's been a calm week for a change and the sea temps holding at 83-84 and lots of clean green water now with the blue water at about 30 miles and beyond. The big difference this week was the change in the clarity of the water from dirty to clean green.

Best Fishing Area: None reported other than just the in-shore areas.

Best bait/lure: Live bait for the roosterfish was best.

Bait Supply: Remained good for both, live and dead baits.
