Crane Prairie has been fishing well
9-6-2024
Fly and Field Outfitters
Crane Prairie has been fishing well and fish are coming up from the deep as the water temp continues to go down. Balanced leeches, chironomids, callibaetis, two-bits, zebra midges, ice cream cones and san juans will all work and should all be in your box. Stripping flies on an intermediate line is also a good way to cover some water and pick up some fish. Fishing your flies under a big foam dry like a chubby chernobyl is also recommended as some opportunistic fish will come up for the dry. Crane can only get better from here on out as we approach fall weather and I recommend scheduling a trip for September and October while you can. Much like the salmon fly hatch on Lower Deschutes we have during early summer, I would consider this another must-fish time.
