Castaic Lake Fishing Report

Water levels at Castaic have been consistently full all summer with temperatures near eighty degrees. Labor Day boat traffic made for tough fishing over the weekend, but by midweek the striped bass had settled back into their reliable patter of surface feeding. Anglers found boiling fish throughout the lake, and white Flukes, spoons, and topwater lures all fooled the 2-to-4-pound zebras. Bass anglers got in on the boil action too, and those same baits worked to land small and largemouth. Bass anglers worked drop shot, Carolina rigs, and Senko style baits in deeper water for plenty of action as well. Catfish were a good bet in the fish arm of the lake on cut anchovies and nightcrawlers.

Pyramid Lake, CA: Pyramid Lake remained near full pool with water temps holding near eighty degrees
Lake Isabella: The overall fishing here this week has been solid for multiple species
Kern River: Trout fishing along the 20-mile stretch in the Upper Kern is fair to good
Lake Kaweah: Kaweah Lake fell to 10 percent of its storage capacity and bass anglers reported another good week of fishing
Lake Success: Better bass continued to come in deeper water and near the submerged trees
River Walk Lakes: Anglers have been scoring bass in the early and later hours of the day
Ming Lake: The bluegill action has been excellent
Buena Vista Lakes: Bass and crappie were the best bets at BV
Hart Park Lake: Hart Park anglers reported another decent week of fishing
Lake Nacimiento: The lake held near 64 percent of capacity, and spotted bass fishing has been good

California Aqueduct: Anglers had to work a little for bites last week
Castaic Lake: Castaic Lake dropped a few feet, and water temperatures remained near eighty degrees
Pyramid Lake, CA: Fishing has been decent and fishing pressure has been minimal
Lake Isabella: Isabella dropped to 35 percent of capacity and continues to release water
Kern River: Deeper pools and river bends with eddies are a good place to start looking
Lake Kaweah: The lake fell to 11 percent of its storage capacity and fishing remained good
Lake Success: Anglers reported another good week of fishing
River Walk Lakes: Both lakes here at River Walk have been kicking out larger grade bass

Buena Vista Lakes: Anglers reported fair to good fishing at Buena Vista Lakes
Hart Park Lake: Fishing was good for Hart Park anglers last week
Lake Nacimiento: Naci fell to 64 percent of capacity, and fishing was good
