Here in the Upper Kern the trout fishing has been very good

Here in the Upper Kern the trout fishing has been very good since they started stocking fish a of couple months ago. The initial plants were larger-grade rainbows and it showed with the quality of fish being caught. Anglers have been scoring trout throughout the 20-mile stretch with salmon eggs, small spinners, trout jigs, and crickets. The Upper Kern River was stocked last week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; and Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. The South Fork Kern River continues to kick out trout from the recent plants. In the Lower Kern, flows remain high in the canyon. Angles have found both large and smallmouth bass with small plastics, get bent baits, and spinnerbaits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 651 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 2127 CFS.

Pyramid Lake, CA: The lake held near 90 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been falling
Lake Isabella: The Bass fishing has been in their summer pattern for some time
Kern River: In the Upper Kern, anglers have been reporting larger than normal trout coming out
Lake Kaweah: Kaweah has been falling rapidly, and it’s currently sitting at 35 percent of capacity
Lake Success: The lake fell to 67 percent of capacity and fishing has been fair to decent
River Walk Lakes: At Riverwalk the fishing has improved since the drought
Ming Lake: The bass action improved this week with the cooler weather
Buena Vista Lakes: Fishing has been good for all species at Buena Vista Lakes with catfish and panfish as the best bets
Hart Park Lake: Hart Park has provided consistent and decent fishing over the last month
