1-29-2009
Larry Edwards

The marlin madness continues at the Golden Gate Bank and as long as the feed biomass, (mackerel) and the water temps continue to hold up, there should be little change with the bite. Top boat for a single fishing day was the "Fish Cabo", skippered by Captain Gil Marquez, reflecting 9 stripers released. Top boat for the week was the "Gaviota VIII", with Captain Juan Dominguez, reflecting 20 stripers, (18 released) for six fishing days. Overall combined fish counts for the two fleets for a total of 44 days fished reflected 106 stripers, (92 released) 4 yellowfin tuna, 3 roosterfish and 47 dorado.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days through the week with temps ranging from 60 nights to 82 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Remains good, temps holding 74-75 on the Pacific side and slowly rising to 76-77 at the Gorda Banks.

Best Fishing Area: Continues to be the Golden Gate Bank for the billfish.

Best Lure/Bait: Mackerel is the hot bait for the billfish

Live Bait Supply: Excellent, with both, mackerel and caballitos and replenishment of the mackerel at the Golden Gate Bank.
