Winter Fishing???s On!
12-2-2006
Bill Roecker
Cows are biting, despite a couple of days of windy weather, and the long range fleet is moving about at 300 to 1,000 miles south of San Diego. Cows are biting off Baja and at the Hurricane Bank, and Red Rooster III is going to try the fishing off Puerto Vallarta. Alijos Rocks offers tuna up to 135 pounds or more, and Royal Polaris found good biters in the 30 to 50-pound range. There are places on the inside where marlin are so thick as to be pesty, noted Qualifier 105. The action's not big every day or everywhere, but it sure looks like tuna fishing is rounding into winter form.
