The Aries Sportfishing Fleet at the Marina El Cid, in Mazatlan, has had another superb fishing week that reflected excellent striper action in the offshore waters and near limit fishing for he inshore super pangas. According to our on location reporter, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, the early part of the week had a couple of port closure days but after that, he billfish decided they wanted to bite for the anglers and every boat had billfish opportunities for the anglers. High billfish boat or the week was the "Aries IX", reflecting 4 stripers for a single fishing day with 3 stripers released. The overall offshore counts for a total of 7 days fished reflected 15 stripers, (7 released) and 1 sailfish (released), providing an average of 2-plus billfish per boat day fished. The inshore super pangas had another excellent fishing week that produced limits of snappers, 20 seabass, 6 barracuda and 15 pampano for their 4 days fished. Overall, the fishing inshore or offshore continues to be in the super mode a lot of happy anglers are coming in everyday.

Mazatlan Climate: Air temps varied from 64 nights to 88 daytime highs and a 61% humidity ratio. The days ranged from partly cloudy to bright sunny and warm days.

Sea Conditions: A couple of port closure days during the early part of the week due to hard windy conditions but then settling into light morning breezes from the westerly directions that ranged to about 14 mph. Very fishable conditions throughout the area. Se temps stable at 75 degrees inshore and rising to 80-81 degrees offshore.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15-16 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid and working the temp break and farther offshore areas.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits working best for the billfish along with a few being taken on the artificials.

Bait Supply: The bait supply remains very good for both, live bait and fresh baits or rigging. Live bait is sold at $1.00 per bait.
