Fantastic weather and a brief respite from the routine of travel as we stopped by the "wahoo factory" and picked up our desired share in one hot and heavy stop. Pretty amazing. Not the fact that we caught fish, the fact that such quantities of continue to prowl the Alijos region and provide extreme, long range caliber opportunities this far into January.

"El Nino"? Perhaps, but I have lived and fished through a handful of warm periods over the past twenty eight years in the long range arena and never seen anything even near comparable. Which doesn't say much. This season, or rather the extension of last season into Winter 2015 is nothing more that another example of how diverse and dynamic the ocean is. Reverting back to my favorite, go to saying when pondering such events is apropos. "Every day out here we are reminded of how much we don't know" That about sums it up. And explains what draws so many anglers to return year after year.

Nothing is constant out here, no two days, weeks, years, or voyages are the same. Living and participating in such beneficent anomalies is satisfying beyond description; and naturally fodder for story telling that is almost as valuable to the fisherman as the fishing itself.
