Loreto Fish Report

2-6-2015
Gary Graham

Action has shifted to the Coronado Island area known as "The Funnel" with some of our smaller rocket fish. Sardina are being offered to firecracker yellowtail and some beefier-sized sierra around on the north side.

These speedsters are almost as exciting as the summer dorado we see in this same spot! The small island west of the bay on Coronado was the close-by destination for the calmer fishing days this week. This is a shallow area which means this action was all on fly-lined, live sardina on the surface. A little to the west is a deeper spot that is a regular producer for some big triggerfish and cabrilla.

Weather continues to be the factor to work around for a successful day of fishing.

The closer rock piles have been standard allowing the most fishing time before the afternoon wind kicks up. Finicky mackerel and finicky weather has been keeping the fish count on the bigger yellowtail low. Yellows still in the high twenties are coming to the docks but results are spotty for the dozen boats getting out most days.....Rick Hill, Pinchy Sportfishing
