Puerto Morelos Fishing Report

10-16-2014
Larry Edwards

Another very good fishing report came from the Marina El Cid Fleet in Puerto Morelos and reflected an excellent 15 fish catch variety that included a couple of sailfish in the counts. The overall report for 29 days fished reflected 2 sailfish, 8 blackfin tuna, 4 dorado, 23 bonito, 1 wahoo, 7 needle fish 16 giant barracuda, 8 Spanish mackerel, 2 amberjack, 6 porgy, 78 banana fish, 14 chac-chi, 24 grouper and 34 snappers.

PM Climate: It has been a wet and rainy week with daily thunder showers but that didn't slow down the fishing. Temps ranged from 74 nights to 84 daytime highs with a 100% humidity level.

Sea Conditions: Excluding the wet weather, the sea conditions remain good with temps holding stable at 84-85 throughout the area. Surface winds have been light and variable to 10 mph, flowing in from the easterly directions, just enough to make the fsh want to bite.

Best bait: Continues to be the always available surplus of ballyhoo that are provided fresh caught on a daily basis and remain the bait of choice for the anglers and the crews.
