The road from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas is just fine and thoroughly passable as of this 09/22-23/14 and better yet, there is no shortage of gasoline. My son just drove it in a Toyota Tundra and had only good things to say about the trip. He spent the night in Loreto on Monday, shopped at Sam's club in La Paz on Tuesday morning, and was sharing with family at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday afternoon. While I was talking with him via cellular, the electricity in the outer portions of Cabo came back on for the first time since the Odile siege that caused enormous damage to the Los Cabos areas. There are literally thousands of local residents and military personnel working day and night to rejuvenate the entire area. The President of Mexico has diverted electricians from all parts of Mexico to Los Cabos to install new telephone poles, lines, transformers and whatever it takes to get the electricity and communications back in order. There is work being accomplished 24-hours a day, non-stop. There is approximately 5,000 troops in town and all are working diligently to complete the clean-up effort and help restore the community. Walmart is open with a complete inventory and many beverages stacked clear to the roof and ice to go with them. The Mexican mega-store, Soriana, was back open and in full business mode. Solomon's Landing will re-open on Tuesday morning and the Wyndham is cleaned-up and good to go with 80% of their rooms. Riu Palace is slated to open on October 9th and Riu Santa Fe on October 16th. The BISBEE TOURNAMENT will fish on schedule and even better, the fish will probably be biting as it's the right time of the year for black and blue marlin. Just around the corner in early November, comes the WON LOS CABOS TUNA JACKPOT TOURNAMENT, another favorite event and by then, we will be rolling into the Thanksgiving period, which is always a good fishing time of the year. So, Cabo is rebounding rapidly and will soon be up & running par normal.

We have a mini fish report for today, the first day the boats have been out since Odile went through and the fishing is very good. The stripers are biting and the dorado are cooperating too, and Tuna Time reported a single 50 lb. wahoo in their mixed catch for the morning following a couple of eager angler striper losses and 1 released striper. The Gaviota 2,4,8 & 9, wound up with 5 stripers, 1 sailfish and 3 dorado for the day. All of the catching took place from Gray Rock to Cabo Falso and just a few miles off shore but even more interesting is, all of the fish were taken on artificials as there was no bait available.


Cabo Climate: Warm and humid for most of the week with temps that ranged from 74 nights to 89 daytime highs and humidity at 79%. Wednesday thru Saturday has scattered thunder-storms and light tropical breezes.

Sea Conditions: Surface breezes from calm to 10 mph, varied directions. Sea temps on the Pacific side from 83-85 degrees to Cabo San Lucas and then increasing to 85-86 degrees into the Sea of Cortez.

Best fishing areas: From Gray rock, (Cabeza de Ballena) to Cabo Falso, including the Herradura., (aka Horse Shoe).

Best Lure: The mackerel colors and black/purple were working quite well for the boats.

Bait Supply: No bait was available for fishing today and all boats were using artificials and doing very well.
