Vagabond, under skipper Gordon Lackey's hand, arrived at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 9 with a fair catch of albacore.
Thirteen year old Brian Moore II, of Phoenix took first place with a 33.6-pound albacore on his first long range trip. Brian caught it on the boats' rental gear.
"I liked the fish frenzy the best," said Brian. "It makes me want to come back next year. I got one dorado too, a female."
Brian and his 11-year old brother Kevin play baseball, soccer, and are competitive swimmers as well.
"This was the last thing we were doing this summer before school started," said Brian Moore Sr., "and it made lifetime fisherman out of these two."
