The striper action has finally taken a a little vacation from the hot summer bite of the past few months but all of the elements are still in place and it may rebound for the typical fall action. Only a little more time will tell. Taking the place of the Pacific striped marlin is the dorado catches throughout the area's various "hot spots" and this past week was near limit style fishing for the arial acrobats. The weather has vastly improved following the full moon phase and the tropical rains and the port was close only a single day this past week before going into the sunshine phase. The overall combined fish counts for a total of 13 days fished reflected 6 stripers, all released, 1 wahoo, 5 yellowfin tuna, 1 skipjack tuna and 135 dorado. "Tuna Time" had 2 stripers released for 2 days fished and "Gaviota IX" also had 2 stripers released for 4 days fished, along with the only wahoo and limits of dorado.

Cabo Climate: Lots of sunny & clear skies with temps ranging from 71 nights to 92 daytime highs. Area is drying out from the rains.

Sea Conditions: Pacific side ranges from 79 to 82 degrees with warmer temps on the Finger, Golden Gate & Jaime Banks. Cabo Falso to Gorda Banks and above is all at 82 to 83 degrees. Surface breezes mostly from the eastery and southeasterly directions from calm to 15 mph.

Best Fishing Area: There are several with the 1150 fathom spot best for the billfish, Pozo d Cota and Cabo Falso for the dorado, albeit, pretty good dorado fishing in all directions.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best for the billfish and for a good number of the dorado, too. Fair numbers of dorado being taken on the artificials.

Bait Supply: The availability remains good and probably because the numbers of trips are quite low and the moon is waning.
