According to our local reporter for Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Captain Temo Verboonen, the fishing continues to be in the excellent mode for sailfish and dorado, following the rough ocean & stormy period caused by Hurricane Dalila, but by this morning, everything was changing for the better and the boats were out fishing once again. The only downside right now is the lack of anglers to go fishing even though the fishing is very, very good, especially for the billfish and dorado. The inshore roosterfishing has changed to a much slower pace and that was probably a result of the big sea conditions during the earlier part of the week. Chances are, they will come right back to the same areas as the surf conditions continue to soften, allowing the boats to get closer to the coastline.

IZ CLIMATE: Mostly a mixed clouds, some rain and sun through the week with temps that varied from 70 nights to 91 daytime highs and a little humidity, along with some scattered thundershowers, mostly in the late afternoons and evenings. Hurricane Dalila was hanging offshore for a couple of days and causing some swell conditions and keeping the boats inside the harbor, but was constantly moving father offshore in a westerly direction and returning our area to summer normal.

Sea Conditions: Rough seas for several days with the passing stormy conditions from Hurricane Dalila. Inshore areas had some residual affects from Hurricane Dalila that were diminishing by the day but still seeing some bigger swells along the beach. Sea temps holding well at 86 inshore and 85 offshore and the good, blue water at about 10 miles or so. Blue water is now within 5 miles of the coastline and the good fishing is just a bit farther offshore.

Best Fishing Areas: The better fishing area for the billfish and dorado continues in the 8-12 mile zone from the entrance to Zihuatanejo Bay.

Best Lure/Bait: The dorado are taking both, rigged baits and artificials but the sailfish are favoring the freshly rigged trolling baits.

Bait Supply: Remains very good with plenty of live bait available and freshly caught baits for slow trolling from the outriggers.
