Captain Temo Verboonen reported very difficult fishing for the few boats that did get out with most of the fishing beyond the 30 mile mark where the green and blue water come together. While a few fish were caught inside the 30-mile mark, most of the action didn't start until 35 miles and beyond. Captan Chiro Barrigan, skipper/owner of the Bloody Hook, had a couple of sailfish and a marlin at the 35-mile mark but for the most part there was just an occasional blind strike here and there and without any consistency to the action. The inshore fishing continues to be quite slow and while there were reports of a few bonito and jack crevalle, it was a major hunt to find them due to the dark green and colder water along the inshore areas. Coupling the green water with the rising full moon phase will likely make the fishing difficult for several more days until the water clarity changes and the moon phase darkens.

IZ Climate: Sunny & warm days for the early week that changed to partly cloudy and warm days for the remainder of the week with temps that ranged from 71 nights to 92 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: While offshore sea temps remain favorable, 83-84 degrees, the water clarity is problematic from the coastline to 30+ miles or so. It has been light & variable surface breezes in the 5-10 mph ranges, flowing from the westerly directions. Inshore waters are cooler and considerably darker and greener with little to no visibility.

Best Fishing Area: There was very little success for any of the boats until they had traveled beyond the 35-mile mark and more and even then, most of the boats were drawing blanks for their efforts.

Best Bait/Lures: Th e rigged baits were the right ammo for the few billfish that were taken.

Bait Supply: The bait supply remained good through the week with plenty of fresh baits for rigging and a good live bait supply.
