Fish Report for 3-9-2013
Trout fishing continues to be excellent at Pardee Reservoir
3-9-2013
Fred Dorman
No rain in the forecast for this weekend. Look for clear skies, gentle breezes and warming temperatures until mid-week.
Bank fishing has been good during the week at the usual places behind the EBMUD boathouse, Rainbow and Blue Herron Point and the shore to the left of the center arm of the Marina slip walk. Most anglers are using chartreuse or rainbow Power Bait (eggs or worms) with garlic and glitter. Pistol Pete's, Kastmasters and pink Power Worms on a water bobber set up have all been very successful this report.
Trollers have zeroed in on the Columbia Gulch and the nearby area and are pulling out some nice Trout. The fish are still at 10 to 18 feet and most are using night crawlers behind medium flashers and dodgers. No word on any Kokanee but another nice German Brown was caught in the River Arm. Check at the Marina for all your fishing supplies, snacks, updated fishing information and hot spots.
Bass fishing continues to be good along exposed rock edges along the shore, sounds like spinner baits are the ticket.
Water level is about 15-18 feet below the spillway and steady, water temperatures in the upper 40's low 50's at the Marina this morning.
Recent success stories: Nick Carbone, pictured of Sacramento got this nice 3.73 lb. German Brown trolling at a secret location in the River Arm using a Needle Fish.
Pardee Lake Recreation has planted 9,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout as of this morning. The California Department of Fish and Game has also planted 1,000 lbs. of Trout to date for a grand total of 10,000 lbs.
