While the fishing remains pretty good for Mazatlan, especially for the billfish, we are starting to see some declining temperatures throughout the offshore waters. So far, it has not had any dramatic affect on the fishing. This past week remained good for billfish and the reports were reflecting both, good and bad days, depending on the "luck of the draw" on any given day. The high boat for the week was the "Aries I", skippered by Captain Jose Zamora, showing 2 stripers and 5 sailfish for a single fishing day. The "Aries IX", skippered by Captain Gilberto Quintero, was close behind with 3 stripers, 4 sailfish and 2 hammerhead shark for 2 fishing days. The overall counts for 14 offshore fishing days reflected 10 stripers, (1 released) 9 sailfish, (6 released) & 2 hammerhead sharks. The inshore super pangas, reporting in for 7 days fished, reflected 1 striper, 10 sea bass, 4 corvina and 78 red snappers.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with intermittent sunshine and pleasant daytime temps. Mornings and evenings are still coolish at 51 degrees, but daytime highs at 82 degrees.

Sea Conditions: The temps have declined this past week but seem to be holding at about 71 degrees for the offshore waters and 70 for the inshore waters. The surface breezes have ranged from about 5-15 mph and mostly quiet and calm seas.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 18 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged trolling baits were working superbly well this past week for the billfish and were the bait of choice for the skippers.

Bait Supply: Remained plentiful for all boats for inshore and offshore fishing. Excellent supply of freshly caught baits for rigging and good live bait availability, too.
